REINSTATEMENT (RE-REGISTERING/RE-ENROLLING)
A nurse/midwife/mental health nurse/nurse practitioner may voluntarily, or through non-payment of fees, have their name removed from the register or roll. They can reinstate at any time providing they have practised nursing or midwifery in the past five years.
All applications must be accompanied by some form of identification. If reinstatement is sought under a different name from that which appeared on the last South Australian Certificate of Registration or Enrolment, evidence of change of name is required (eg: Marriage Certificate or Change of Name Certificate).
When an applicant has not practised nursing or midwifery for more than five years, there is a requirement to successfully complete a Board approved re-entry program for the roll or part of the register that the applicant is seeking reinstatement to (general, mental health or midwifery).
Nurses and midwives also have the option of laying an application before the Board with evidence that they are competent to practise without fulfilling the requirement to complete a re-entry program. In their application, the applicant must address how they meet each of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) Standards for the Registered or Enrolled Nurse (whichever is applicable). The application must also include the Application for Reinstatement form and documentary evidence supporting the claims against each standard.
