Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice
Feedback on EN Draft Information Sheets
Background
The Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice Project commenced in May 2006 to consider the current and future role of the Enrolled Nurse in South Australia. The enrolled nurse role was reviewed in conjunction with the nbsa Scope of Practice Decision Making Tool (SOPDMT) to assist nurses, midwives and employers make clear decisions in relation to the enrolled nurse scope of practice.
In response to stakeholders’ feedback, nbsa has developed four enrolled nurse scope of practice draft information sheets. They are titled:
- Responsibility and Accountability in Delegation;
- Medicines Administration;
- Educational Preparation;
- Authorisation of an enrolled nurse to practise without the supervision of a registered nurse or midwife
Feedback from nurses and midwives
To facilitate nurses and midwives providing feedback, nbsa has published the four draft information sheets and a feedback form in the April edition of the Bulletin. nbsa values your feedback and encourages nurses and midwives to take time to review the four draft information sheets.
The closing date for submission of feedback is Friday 2 May
2008.
