Enrolled Nurse

APPROVED EDUCATION PATHWAY TO ENROLMENT

An enrolled nurse who has not practised nursing for a period of five (5) years or more is required by the Board to complete a Nurses Board of South Australia (nbsa) approved education pathway.

In July 2007, the Board approved the education pathway to enrolment based on a subset of units of competency from the new HLT51607 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 nursing). This pathway is available for nurses with lapsed enrolment, and reinstatement onto the roll for nurses with a lapsed registration of five (5) or more years.

The pathway is currently offered by the following two (2) nbsa accredited education providers:

Central Northern Adelaide Health Service – Royal Adelaide Hospital

TAFESA

Note.  A refresher program, differs to a re-entry program, as it is designed to allow the nurse to update knowledge and skills previously practised within the last five years. Refresher programs are not required to be approved by the Board as they do not lead to enrolment or reinstatement on to the roll.
