INFORMATION ON MAKING A COMPLAINT

Copies of de-identified complaints are provided to persons under investigation.

Are you a consumer?

Anyone who uses the services of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, midwife, mental health nurse or enrolled nurse in South Australia can forward a report to the Nurses Board. If you are a parent, guardian or representative of someone, you may act on their behalf.

Do you work with nurses, nurse practitioners, midwives or mental health nurses?

Anyone who is involved in the provision of nursing care by a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, midwife, mental health nurse or enrolled nurse in South Australia can forward a report to the Nurses Board. If you are a health professional providing care to a client you may submit a report on their behalf.

Are you an employer?

Under Section 45 of the Nurses Act 1999, employers have an obligation to provide a written report to the Nurses Board if they believe that a nurse employed by them has been guilty of unprofessional conduct.

Are you a health professional (medical practitioner or psychologist)?

Under Section 43 of the Nurses Act 1999, if a health professional who has a nurse as a patient or client believes that the ability of the nurse to provide nursing care is, or may be, seriously impaired by a physical incapacity or a mental incapacity (or both), the health professional must submit a written report to the Board.
