The Nurses Board of South Australia is a statutory authority established to regulate nursing in the public interest.
The Board ensures this State's 29,033 nurses, midwives and mental health nurses are responsive to people's health needs through:
- the accreditation of higher education sector courses that prepare individuals for registration and enrolment;
- ensuring practising nurses, midwives and mental health nurses have the knowledge, skills and attitude required by the profession; and
- contributing to the conduct and competence of nursing standards through investigating reports of misconduct and incompetence and initiating formal disciplinary action.
